TEXAS CONGRESSWOMAN WRITES LOST SUPREME AUTHOR ABOUT HER STATEMENT ABOUT FLO'S DEATH
Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) of that state's 18th District, who said on a recent Tom Joyner Morning Show that Florence Ballard died of a drug overdose, thanked Lost Supreme Author Peter Benjaminson for sending her Flo's autopsy records, which showed that the Congresswoman's statement was not accurate and Flo did not die from drugs.
The Congresswoman, whose district includes Houston,Texas, also pledged that her future comments will reflect the "clarifying information" Benjaminson sent her.
According to the records of the autopsy performed on Flo by Wayne County (Detroit) Assistant Medical Examiner Dr. James Mullaney, there were no drugs in Flo's system except a small amount of Seniquan, an antidepressant. (See P. 168 of The Lost Supreme: The Life of Dreamgirl Florence Ballard, Lawrence Hill Books, 2008.)
This web site, knowing that Congresswoman Jackson Lee would be shocked if she knew her statement was in error, asked her to correct the record with a new and accurate statement as soon as possible.
According to the Congresswoman's new statement, Flo was "a woman I admired. She was a beautiful talent. Thanks for the clarifying information and my comments will truly reflect that [Congresswoman's underlining]."
